Tours to the Norman E. McSwain Spirit of Charity Level 1 Trauma Center and the New Orleans Emergency Medical Services facility are available free of charge on the following dates:

Norman E. McSwain Spirit of Charity Level 1 Trauma Center
Located at University Medical Center in New Orleans, Norman E. McSwain Spirit of Charity Trauma Center is the region’s only American College of Surgeon’s verified Level 1 Center and one of the busiest inner-city trauma centers in the country—admitting over 2,000 patients per year. The trauma center has been in operations since 1996 and in August 2015 moved to a new state-of-the-art facility with five major resuscitation rooms and a 256-slice CT scanner adjacent to the Trauma Suite.
New Orleans EMS Facility
Since Hurricane Katrina in 2005, New Orleans Emergency Medical Services has occupied several makeshift quarters around the city. After 10 years in the making, the New Orleans EMS and Coroner’s Office opened a modern join headquarters building in January of this year. The new 14,000 square foot, two-story EMS facility now contains all the day-to-day operations for New Orleans EMS. The facility was designed by Administrators, EMT'S and Paramedics to function efficiently and meet the challenges of the future. The facility contains over 1.5 million dollars’ worth of state of the art electronics and technology. New Orleans EMS responds to nearly 63,000 calls for service providing the best prehospital care to the citizens and visitors of New Orleans.
